The Heel Distance

    Dit is een uitleg over wat de hakafstand van een schoen is. Mocht je de volledige uitleg van alle specificaties willen lezen dan kan je dat op de volgende pagina vinden:

      Hoe kan het dat sommige schoenen met een hak van 10 cm veel steiler lopen/hoger voelen dan een ander paar met dezelfde hakhoogte?

      Hoe hoog hakken 'voelen' heeft alles te maken met hoe steil ze zijn; de mate van steilheid wordt voornamelijk bepaald door:

      • De hakafstand
      • De hellingshoek

      Dit is de uitleg over wat de hakafstand is. De uitleg over wat de hellingshoek is kan je hier vinden.

      Hakafstand (ook wel 'sprong')

      De hakafstand is de afstand tussen de hak en de loopzool (de helling van de binnenzool)

      Hoe korter de hakafstand is, hoe hoger de hak van de schoen voelt/hoe steiler de schoen loopt.

      Een steilere hak heeft een scherpere hellingshoek, en een 'lager' getal in graden (lees de uitleg over de hellingshoek voor meer informatie hierover)

      Waar je deze afstand precies moet meten is soms moeilijk te zeggen. Idealiter meet je deze ter hoogte van waar je voet op de zool staat (de loopzool), maar bij schoenen met een verborgen plateauzool kan je niet altijd goed zien op welke hoogte de loopzool zich bevindt.

      Uiteindelijk maak het niet preciés uit wáár je dit meet, als je dit maar steeds op dezelfde (relatieve) hoogte meet;

      • Dus meet je dit ter hoogte van de loopzool, meet dit dan altijd ter hoogte van de loopzool.
        Bij schoenen met een plateauzool hou je er dus rekening mee dat je deze meet ter hoogte van de bovenkant van de plateauzool, en bij schoenen zonder plateauzool je de meting dus wat lager doen
      • Meet je dit vanaf waar de hak de grond raakt tot aan waar de zool de grond raakt, doe dit dan altijd op die hoogte

       

      Je kunt het meten van de hakafstand eigenlijk het best toepassen wanneer je twee verschillende schoenen in dezelfde maat en met dezelfde loop/hakhoogte met elkaar vergelijkt.

      Vergelijk dus geen appels met peren door een maat 36 met een maat 40 te vergelijken; een maat 40 heeft een andere hakafstand dan dezelfde schoen in maat 36 omdat een voetmaat 40 nu eenmaal langer is, en de hak daarom ook op een andere afstand/hoogte zal staan dan bij maat 36. Verderop meer hierover!

      Bij het vergelijken van schoenen zie je namelijk het beste of de hakafstand hetzelfde is, of dat er een verschil in zit. Wanneer je de hakafstand gebruikt in een vergelijking is het belangrijkst om de volgende regel in je achterhoofd te houden:

      • Hoe korter de hakafstand, hoe hoger/steiler de hak van de schoen voelt

      De driehoek stelt de 'ruimte tussen' de hak en de loopzool/helling voor.

      • Beide hakken zijn 10 cm hoog

      Hak afstand

      Linker schoen:  Rechter schoen:
      • De hakafstand is 10 cm
      • De hellingshoek* is 135º
      • De hoek tussen de hak en de helling is 45º

      • De hakafstand is 7 cm
      • De hellingshoek is 125 º
      • De hoek tussen de hak en de helling is 35 º

      Zoals je ziet, loopt de helling van de rechter schoen veel rechter/steiler omlaag en is de hoek die bij de overgang wordt gemaakt een stuk scherper. De rechter schoen is dus steiler en de hak zal daarom ook hoger voelen.

      Samengevat:

      Als de hakafstand kleiner is, is de helling steiler en de hellingshoek scherper. De hak van schoenen met een kleinere hakafstand zullen dus ook hoger voelen.
      De schoenen in de afbeelding hieronder hebben beiden een hakhoogte van 12,7 cm en geen plateauzool.
      De schoenen zijn uitgelijnd zodat de zool en de hiel zich op dezelfde hoogte bevinden. De meting van de hakafstand is bij beide schoenen op dezelfde hoogte genomen.

      Welke schoen is steiler/voelt hoger?

      • Bij de pijltjes bovenaan is te zien dat de hakafstand van de rechter schoen (in het paars) in vergelijking korter is dan de hakafstand van de linker schoen (in het blauw).
        • De hak van de rechter schoen staat dus dichter bij de loopzool dan de hak van de linker schoen.
      • Ook zie je dat de helling van de linker schoen minder steil/recht naar beneden loopt dan de helling van de rechter schoen.

      "Technische" uitleg:

      Bij beide schoenen moet je voet vanaf een hoogte van 12,7 cm over de helling afdalen naar de loopzool die de grond raakt.

      • Omdat de hak van de linker schoen verder van de loopzool af staat, kan die afdaling over een langere afstand worden gemaakt.
      • De rechter schoen moet diezelfde afdaling in een kortere afstand maken omdat de hak dichter bij de tenen staat. Deze zal dus rechter naar beneden moeten lopen om op tijd (in die kortere afstand) de grond te raken.

      De rechter schoen zal daardoor dus ook een scherpere hellingshoek hebben en je voet zal dus een scherpere hoek maken waar deze de zool raakt.

      Dit is hetzelfde principe als uitgelegd bij de driehoeken hierboven!

      General information

      • For returning (not exchanging) items that I imported from the supplier for you upon your order, I will deduct €25,- import/postage/duty costs from your refund amount per item*.
      • I will convert €15,- from that €25,- into a shop credit.
        • Once your return has been received in good order, you will receive a return confirmation and your shop credit will be added to your account
        • Your shop credit can be redeemed in the webshop for a next order
        • Your shop credit cannot be exchanged for (cash) money
        • Your credit is valid for 12 months from the date of issue
        • If your return does not meet the return conditions and in addition to import/postage/import duty costs, a depreciation will also be applied, your right to this shop credit will lapse and all costs will be deducted from the amount to be refunded

      * When returning multiple items that have been imported, I will always calculate the costs incurred per individual situation; the amount that will be deducted and the amount that will be converted into shop credit depends on the actual costs incurred and are subject to a reasonable compensation for the losses incurred.

      This applies to:
      1) cancellation of the order before it is delivered to you, but has already been imported by me
      2) returning (part of) the order you have already received.

       

      I would prefer not to have to charge these costs, but in order to cover the costs (losses) I have incurred due to the increasing number of returns, this has unfortunately proven necessary. To limit the number of returns (please think about the environment too) I would like to ask you to think just a little longer about your purchase, to make a well-considered decision and, if you are unsure, to ask me for advice or help!

      Sizing and Dimensions

      Converted sizing for Pleaser shoes:

      Pleaser shoes come from the USA and have American sizing (1 inch = 2.54 cm). Pleaser lists both US sizes (American shoe sizes) and EU sizes (European shoe sizes) on the shoe boxes.

      However, experience has shown that the listed, converted EU sizes are not always correct. In particular, the larger shoe sizes are often larger than stated on the shoe box. For this reason, I use my own converted EU size chart (see the Sizing page) and not the EU sizes stated on the boxes.

      From US-size 12, the sizing for most shoes is slightly adjusted:

      US-12 -> EU size 42/43;
      US-13 -> EU size 44;
      US-14 -> EU size 45 and so on.

       Important:

      Order the size you normally wear, I already take into account whether certain shoes have a smaller or larger fit. If you have already done that too, please let me know (at the comments section in your shopping cart or by e-mail stating your order number) so that your order won't be imported two sizes too big or too small.

      What if I want to order a specific US size?

      If you would like to order a specific US size because you know which Pleaser US size you have, this is of course possible. I always buy the US size that is indicated. For example, as shown in the image below, I buy US-16 if you buy size 47/48:

      You can see in the image above that the sizing has been adjusted slightly from US size 12 and up. For example, US-12 is a European size 42/43; US-13 is a European size 44; US-14 is a European size 45 and so on. On the shoe box, US-13 size 43 is indicated, but this conversion is not correct. So don't panic if you see another EU-size on the shoebox! ;)

      How do I calculate the right size for me?

      If you are between 2 sizes, I usually advise rounding up the size for a closed style such as a pump or boot with a closed toe. For an open shoe style such as a sandals, where the toes and/or heel are 'open', I advise rounding down the size.

      I would kindly like to ask you not to order the same item in different sizes and then return the sizes that do not fit.

      Please contact me so that I can help you determine the correct size. If the shoes do not fit after all, you can always exchange them for a different size!

      It is a waste of time and money to order an item in multiple sizes if you know in advance that some of those items will be returned. The costs for the return shipment are for your own account and if items have been imported especially for you upon your order, the import/postage/customs costs will also be charged on to you. Please refer to section 6.2: Right of withdrawal in the Terms of Service

      Boot Circumference and Shaft Height:

      You can find all the specifications of the shoes in the specification table below the product; such as the shaft length, shaft circumference, calf circumference and the length of the inner sole of the shoes.

      The (boot) specifications are size-related! So make sure you have selected the desired size to read the correct specifications.
